We take our role as members of your community seriously and have taken several measures to ensure a safe reopening. As we continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic, please be aware that we are scheduling appointments for all patient encounters and cannot accept walk ins at this time. Please call ahead to schedule appointments for:
- eye examinations
- glasses ordering, repair and pickup
- contact lens ordering and pickup
In many cases we can have your contact lenses or glasses delivered curbside or mailed directly to your home. Please call us for details.
Entrance to Bay College Optometric Centre is currently restricted to the pharmacy entrance (at street level or to the left inside the main building entrance).

An Expectations Checklist—For All of Us

To ensure your safety and the safety of our staff, we ask that you please help us by:
- Completing our entrance form and COVID-19 screening forms online or by phone before arriving for your appointment
- Coming alone to your appointment unless you require a caregiver or are accompanying a child to their appointment
- Bringing your own face mask from home and wear upon entering the office
- Using hand sanitizer immediately upon entering the office and again when leaving the office
- Practicing safe distancing within the clinic (minimum of 2 metres between you and other patients)

Steps we are taking to ensure your safety include:
- spacing appointments further apart to ensure social distancing and limiting the number of patients in the office at any time
- keeping patient seating in the optical and reception area at least 2 metres apart
- having hand sanitization stations avaiable at our entrance and throughout the office
- taking temperatures of staff at the beginning of each day and of each patient on entering the office
- ensuring all doctors and staff wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including face masks, face shields and gloves as needed
- installation of plexiglass shields at the front desk and dispensary desk, and installation of shields on all testing equipment inside the exam room
- disinfecting chairs, equipment, surfaces and door handles after every patient use
- disinfecting frames after each patient use
- disinfecting pens after each use and touchless credit/debit card payments when possible
- scheduling follow up appointments by telephone or telehealth video conferencing where appropriate
